On June 10, 2023 Gilbert Whiteduck of Kitigan Zibi led a meditative walk to raise awareness of the history of the Algonquin Anishinabeg in this region and to celebrate the official naming of the community path, Nakwey amadiwin Mik `ans, as the first community trail in Chelsea to be named an Algonquin Anishinabeg name, meaning “Friendship Trail”.
