Induction Service – Celebration Service for the New Ministry of Rev. Canon Kevin Flynn – 4:00 p.m. May 8, 2022

Members of St Mary Magdalene Church are invited to gather with other members of the Parish of Chelsea-Lascelles- Wakefield for the Induction Service for Rev. Canon Kevin Flynn. The Service will take place on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wakefield.The Archdeacon of West Quebec, the Venerable Eric Morin, will preside at the Induction Service. The preacher will be the Reverend Canon David Clunie, incumbent of St Bartholomew's Church, Ottawa.An Induction Service marks a new beginning for Father Kevin and the members of the parish and provides an opportunity to support and encourage Father Kevin and each other in the life of our faith community.

Nakweyamàdiwin Mikàns – Official Name – Community Trail

On February 1, 2022, Mayor Pierre Guénard and the Municipal Council of Chelsea voted unanimously to approve the name,   “Nakweyamàdiwin Mikàns,” as the official name for the community trail that passes across the south lawn of St Mary Magdalene  church and links Quartier Meredith with Route 105. On July 18, 2021 Bishop Shane Parker and Albert Dumont, Algonquin Elder from Kitigan Zibi and Indigenous Advisor to the Bishop, blessed the trail that was under construction at the time.  Following the blessing of the trail, Elder Dumont proposed the Algonquin Anishinabeg  name, “Nakweyamàdiwin Mikàns” as an act of reconciliation.
