June 10, 2023 – Meditative Walk for Reconciliation and Official Naming of Path -Nakweyamàdiwin Mikàns
On Saturday, June 10, 2023 there will be a meditative walk led by Gilbert Whiteduck of Kitigan Zibi to raise awareness of the history of the Algonquin Anishinabeg in this region and to celebrate the official naming of the community path, Nakweyamàdiwin Mikàns, as the first community path in Chelsea to be named an Algonquin Anishinabeg name, meaning "Friendship Trail". The meditative walk will start at St Mary Magdalene Church,will pass through Quartier Meredith, along the community path , and will finish at St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church. Lenten Book Study – “The Doors of the Sea. Where Was God in the Tsunami?” by David Bentley Hart
During Lent Rev. Kevin Flynn will lead a book study via Zoom on Tuesdays, February 28-March 28, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The title of the book is The Doors of the Sea. Where Was God in the Tsunami? by David Bentley Hart (Grand Rapids: William B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., 2005). Rev. Kevin has three copies ($16.00 each) for anyone interested. Copies are also available at the usual online sites. Free membership in the Internet Archive Digital Library (https://archive.org/) will give you access to an online pdf of the book, as well. Ash Wednesday
Lent begins on February 22, 2023. The Ash Wednesday service with imposition of ashes will take place at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene at 7:15 a.m. and at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 5:15 p.m.
Yoga Classes As a Spiritual Practice for Christians – Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
Rev. Kevin Flynn will lead yoga classes in the hall of St Mary Magdalene Church every Thursday morning 10:00-11:15. These yoga classes are open to anyone of any level of experience of yoga.
